Each number on the image corresponds to the numbered description below:
- Rubber Eye Cups: Prevents the user being distracted by what is around them. Can be folded down if people wish to wear spectacles while using the binoculars. The soft rubber protects spectacles from scratching.
- Ocular Lens: This is the lense that focuses the image for the eye. Some binoculars have a special lens arrangement that help people who wear spectacles view the image to best advantage.
- Focus Wheel: This is used to bring the image into focus. Generally a larger wheel will make focusing easier.
- Rubber Armour: Helps to protect the body of the binoculars from minor knocks and scratches.
- Tripod Mount: Behind the screw-on cover there is a mount to attach a tripod for a steady image. nb. a tripod mount bracket may need to be purchased separately.
- Objective Lens: The larger this lens, the brighter the image, but the bigger and heavier the binoculars as well! Different coatings improve image quality, brightness and contrast.
